Static Caravans

There are few static caravans in Stubton parish.

  • If your static caravan is your main or sole residence (where you live most of the time), you are generally required to pay council tax on it. This applies whether it is on private land or a residential park. The caravan will usually be placed in council tax Band A, which is the lowest band.
  • If your static caravan is used only as a holiday home (for recreation, not as your main home), and it is sited on a holiday park, you do not have to pay council tax. Instead, you may pay a contribution towards the business rates of the park, which is typically included in your site fees. Holiday parks are classed as commercial properties, so council tax does not apply unless someone is living there full-time.
  • If someone else uses your static caravan as their main residence, council tax will also apply for them.

Key points:

  • No council tax for holiday use/static caravans on holiday parks.
  • Council tax applies if the caravan is your main home or someone else’s main home.
  • You cannot legally live full-time on a holiday park; only residential parks allow this, and council tax is then due.
